RIP: Bill Paxton (1955 - 2017)
Bill Paxton was one of THE best and he's in some of our favourite movies ever, so we're absolutely devastated to hear about his untimely passing - a wonderful presence in any film, he's always solid. You can count on Bill.
TOP FIVE BILL PAXTON PERFORMANCES
5 - Jerry Lambert - Predator 2 (1990)
Predator 2, in our eyes, is 110% more awesome than Predator, made EVEN more awesome by Paxton's turn as this LAPD Detective. He's cheeky. He's bad ass. There's a really rad bit on the subway where Predator doesn't buy a ticket. Voooodooo magic.
4 - Vince - Trespass (1992)
For some reason we watched Trespass on repeat at university, so our feelings for Bill here as fireman Vince are pretty sentimental. It's a good old fashioned treasure hunt in a derelict building buddy movie, with Ice-T and Ice Cube after Vince and his fireman friend Don (William Sadler). It's frickin' awesommmmeeeeeeee.
3 - Severen - Near Dark (1987)
Sexy, grotesque and scary, Paxton's psycho vampire Severen is one of the most memorable characters from this cult horror classic. He made us feel funny. AND WE KNEW IT WAS WRONG. See above. Frickin' awesommmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
2 - Chet Donnelly - Weird Science (1985)
Paxton plays the bullying older brother of Ilan Mitchell-Smith's delicate dweeb Wyatt, and he's thoroughly gross and horrid. The ultimate prankster, with an actual threat of violence, Chet is a real asshole. It's okay - he gets turned into a weird blob creature.
1 - Private William Hudson - Aliens (1986)
As marine Private Hudson, Paxton is a smart mouthed, wisecracking 'ultimate badass' who meets a realllllly nasty death. It's in Aliens that Paxton has his greatest film presence and is unbeatable.
Game over, man. Game over.
