Review: Ghostbusters (2016)

It could have been naff. It most definitely isn't. This loving take on our favourite bustin' team has four hilarious female leads (take that, trollios!) - Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon - and one very vacant, hilarious Chris Hemsworth in the Janine secretary position. It's funny, it's got some great ghosties and we LAVVVEEEDDD every minute.
The leads work well together but this film belongs to McKinnon's Dr. Jillian Holtzmann, the techy 'Spengler' who steals the show with her stares, poses, quick wit and THAT wink to Wiig's Dr. Erin Gilbert. She is just SUPER fantasia, with super big balls. The team come together as New York starts to get plagued by those pesky ghosts again, after they've been chucked out of academia with Leslie Jones' Patty coming along for the ride. There's a few cameos along the way, including some old friends. AND SLIMER HAS A GIRLFRIEND*.
There will always be debate on whether a new spin on Ghostbusters is needed. You'd probably be right in saying it's not but when it's done as well as this, we reallllllllly don't care. Life's too short. It's a great movie and we want to see more of this team.
4/5 YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAHHHHHHHH
Watch it for: Kate McKinnon. WE ARE IN LOVVEEEEEEEEEE
Watch out for: Spot the cameo
* Well, it could be Slimer's wife. Or sister.
