The Black Dahlia (2006) Director: Brian De Palma
I hated this film. For three main reasons...
1)Brian De Palma's direction of this crime thriller was awful.
2) The film itself is long and boring.
3) The conclusion, which is ridiculous, features some of the worst, over-the-top acting I have ever seen by Fiona Shaw. I'm sorry Fiona Shaw. But it was bad.
The plot is as follows: two detectives in 1940s LA - Josh Hartnett and Aaron Eckhart - become obsessed of solving the murder of the 'Black Dahlia', Elizabeth Short (Mia Kirshner); this leads them down a trail of corruption, violence and an excuse to show some 1940s lesbian pornography. It really is a stinker; you feel no emotions for the characters and frankly couldn't care less about what happens to them. I didn't even feel any sympathy for the Dahlia as the film doesn't engage you.
A real turkey (apart from the female lead characters' lipsticks which were lush).
